The taxi cab industry is getting disrupted by smartphone applications which are changing the way how you call a taxi, get a ride, and pay for it. Gone are the days when you had to whistle, waive, make a call and wait for half an hour for taxi to come, and then worry, whether the taxi driver accepts a credit card or not. There are smartphone applications which can get a ride for you in a tap. Three of the most popular ones are Uber, Lyft, and Side car. Uber provides you multiple options to select a car. You can select from a taxi, a limousine, an SUV, or a car owned and driven by someone who wants to earn some extra cash. Uber launched its Uberx service to compete with Lyft and Side car which provide rides at prices lower than that of a taxi, using cars driven by people who are not taxi or limousine drivers, but drive their car in spare time to make extra income. Lighting to 30-pin Adapter
The new iPhone 5 has a smaller dock adapter, called Lighting, than the 30-pin adapter on iPhone 4S. Lighting is an all-digital, eight signal design adapter, which is reversible, so you can plug it from either side. However, if you have old accessories, you will not be able to plug them into the new iPhone 5. To resolve this issue, Apple is selling an adapter for $39 which coverts Lighting into a 30-pin adapter, so you can use any old iPhone accessory with the new iPhone 5. The Lighting to 30-pin adapter can be pre-ordered from Apple Online store, and it will start shipping in October.

The New iPhone 5
Apple has announced a new model of the iPhone, the iPhone 5, at an event that was held today on 12 September 2012 in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. A number of blogs and Web sites had already revealed that the new iPhone 5 will be announced today, even before the invitations for the event were sent by Apple. This model of iPhone is thinnest and lightest among all the iPhone models and is entirely made of glass and aluminum. Most of the bloggers also got it right when they said that the iPhone 5 will sport a bigger screen, than the screen of the iPhone 4S which measures 3.5 inches diagonally. The screen of iPhone 5 measures 4 inches diagonally allowing an extra row of application icons on the screen. The screen has a 1135 X 640 pixel resolution and a 16:9 screen ratio which makes it better for watching movies. Touch sensors have been integrated into the screen which means you will get better touch response. While Apple has updated its apps for the larger screen, older applications will appear with a black bar on the top and bottom. Continue reading Apple Unveils iPhone 5
