Motorola Announces Droid Bionic on Verizon Wireless

Motorola has announced a new version of its Android based Droid smartphone – the Bionic, which will launch on Verizon wireless. This smartphone has a dual-core processor with each core running at 1GHz providing a total of 2 GHz processing power and 512 MB RAM. The device has a front-facing VGA camera and a rear facing 8 Megapixel cameras which can record videos and take pictures. It has a 4.3 inch qHD screen and also comes with HDMI connectivity which enables consumers to connect the device to their HD televisions. It has a 4G mirror mode function that enables simultaneous streaming of video to the TV and on the device. The smartphone comes equipped with corporate email, remote wipe and data security and encryption capabilities IT departments appreciate. It also features productivity tools such as Quickoffice for document review and editing, full calendar management, one-click access to conference calling, and a full suite of Google applications and services. Motorola has unveiled a new Android operating system based smartphone– the Atrix 4G in the currently running CES exhibition in Las Vegas. The unique feature of this smartphone is that it can let you surf the net, edit documents and photos, make phone calls on a bigger laptop like screen with a full touch-type keyboard and mouse pad using an additional accessory – the laptop dock, which this smartphone can connect to. The laptop dock has an 11.6-inch screen, full keyboard, stereo speakers, 36Wh three-cell battery that delivers up to eight hours of battery life and weighs 2.4 pounds. The Atrix 4G smartphone docks into the back of the laptop dock to give users a laptop like experience and functionality – which is entirely powered by the smartphone. The laptop dock has a built-in webtop application that has the Mozilla Firefox 3.6 browser and supports Adobe Flash player. It also projects the smartphone screen on the dock screen, so you can interact with any of the applications on your smartphone on a bigger screen. Motorola has launched a new tablet device called Xoom which will compete with iPad. Xoom runs on Google’s Android 3.0 Honey comb operating system, which is designed from the ground up for tablets. This tablet has a 10.1 inch widescreen HD display and a dual core processor with each core running at 1GHz, delivering up to 2 GHz of processing power. It supports 1080p HD video and it has HDMI output to display content on larger HD screens. It has a front facing 2 Megapixel camera for video chats and a rear facing 5 Mega pixel camera that can capture video in 720p HD. Motorola has announced a new Citrus Smartphone with a curvy rounded design on the outside. This phone has an environment friendly vibe as the casing on this phone is constructed from recycled materials.  The housing is made from 25 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, is PVC and BFR free and packaged in an eco-friendly box. CITRUS is also certified Carbon Free through an alliance with Carbonfund.org. Motorola offsets the carbon dioxide required to manufacture, distribute and operate the phone during its lifetime through investments in energy efficiency sources and reforestation. It has a curvy-rounded design, a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard, a 3.0” QVGA touchscreen with multi-touch support for text input, and a pinch to zoom functionality. It comes with a Flashback application which allows you to view and manage your phone communications and content all from a single application. Motorola has announced a new Android based smartphone – Droid Pro. This smartphone comes with a 1 GHz processor, a built-in QWERTY keyboard, a 3.1 inch screen, and a five Mega Pixel camera with auto focus, digital zoom, and Dual-LED flash. The camera on this device can also capture videos. The Droid Pro comes with a 2GB internal memory, a 2GB pre-loaded memory which can be expanded to 32GB with a SD card.  It comes with Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA®) connectivity feature which allows you to stream, store and share content with multiple DLNA-enabled devices around your home. T-mobile Announces Android based G2 Smartphone

T-mobile has announced a new Android based smartphone called G2. This smartphone has an 800 MHz Snapdragon MSM7230 micro-processor. The G2 has been specifically designed to work on T-mobile’s new HSPA+ network which enables internet connectivity at 4G speeds. The HSPS+ network covers 100 million Americans in more than 55 metropolitan areas across the U.S. The phone has a 3.7 inch screen with a unique hinge design that opens to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. It is built on Andorid 2.2 and has seven customizable home screen panels, including one which is dedicated to Google applications including the Android marketplace.  The phone comes with a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus. It can also record high definition (720p) videos which can be uploaded directly to your Photobucket account. BT Customers Get Free Wi-Fi Access Through BT FON

British Telecom has announced a new BT FON application for iPhone and Android smartphones in the U.K. The application will automatically connect customers to its network of 1.6 million Wi-Fi hotspots. It will give BT Total Broadband customers free and unlimited Wi-Fi access, and comes with a weekly updated map of hotspots to help customers find their nearest hotspot. Once BT customers have downloaded the app, they can input their BT Internet email username and password, and choose to be automatically logged in whenever they are in a BT Wi-Fi area. Twitter Use on Mobile Phones Growing by Leaps and Bounds

The number of twitter users using it on their mobile phones has seen a meteoric rise by 62% since mid-April this year. The number of new users starting on Twitter on mobile has increased to 16% compared to 5% before. The business managers at Twitter have been following a strategy to increase its use on mobile. Earlier there were a lot of third party applications for using Twitter on iPhone, but there was no application specifically from Twitter. The Twitter management decided to acquire an iPhone application called Tweetie and turned it into the official Twitter application for iPhone, with a new sign-up interface. Motorola Launches Milestone 2 in Europe

Motorola today launched Milestone 2 smartphone in Europe. This is the same device which has already been launched in the United States as Droid 2. It has a 1GHz process, a 3.7 inch TFT screen, a slide-out key board, and a 5 Megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, image stabilization, and digital zoom. The camera can capture HD (720p) video at a frame rate of 26-30 frames per second. The smartphone is based on the 2.2 Android operating system.
