Hurricane Hound is an application for the Android smartphones, which lets you track hurricane paths. You can see the path of hurricane Irene which is currently progressing along the East Coast and is supposed to make a landfall on NewYork today, 28th August 2011. The path is overlayed on a map which can be zoomed in. Along the path, the application displays weather advisories in form of yellow icons.  BT Fon application for iPhone and Andorid
British Telecom has announced a new BT FON application for iPhone and Android smartphones in the U.K. The application will automatically connect customers to its network of 1.6 million Wi-Fi hotspots. It will give BT Total Broadband customers free and unlimited Wi-Fi access, and comes with a weekly updated map of hotspots to help customers find their nearest hotspot. Once BT customers have downloaded the app, they can input their BT Internet email username and password, and choose to be automatically logged in whenever they are in a BT Wi-Fi area. Microsoft has launched a Bing search application for Android smartphones, but only for those who are using the Verizon wireless network. The application can be downloaded from the Verizon Wireless Android phones Marketplace. It features Bing image of the day with clickable hotspots that can be used to explore and discover related trivia on the place/object featured in the image. The image of the day changes every day and you can swipe through the last seven days of images. StumbleUpon, the Web service which lets users rate and review the Web sites that they visit and recommends new Web sites to visit, has now launched an application for the iPhone and Android. The application comes with an embedded browser and a bar on the top which has the like, dislike, and stumble upon buttons. Users can press the thumbs up icon to show their liking, the thumbs down button to show their disliking, and the stumble upon icon to go to a recommended Web site. Google has added new features in the 1.1 version of its Google Earth application for Android. The application now lets you explore beneath the ocean surface.
