 Sony's S Tablet
Sony has unveiled two new tablet devices, the Sony Tablet S, and the Sony Tablet P built on Google’s Android 3 Honeycomb operating system for tablets. The Sony Tablet S has a 9.4 inch LCD touch screen and has a wedge shaped form which is thicker on one side and tapers on the other. This shape makes the tablet feel lighter, easier to hold and also makes a good viewing angle when the tablet is resting on the table. The tablet comes built-in with a universal remote control application and an infrared port that can control TV, blu-ray player, stereo, cable box and even other non-Sony brands.  Personalized Magazine App Zite
The company Zite Inc., which makes the popular magazine application Zite for the iPad has been acquired by CNN. Although the terms of deals were not disclosed by CNN, a Web site – Techvibes which reported of initial talks between the two companies had speculated that CNN will at least pay $20 million. Zite is a personalized magazine application for iPad that serves customized content based on what you click on and your social feeds. It provides news, articles, blogs, videos, and other content from both mainstream and niche sites. The application has a smart auto suggest tool which lets you select from thousands of magazine sections.  Adobe's Create PDF
Adobe has released an application called “Adobe CreatePDF” which enables creation of PDF files on iPad and iPhone. Adobe claims that the application has high fidelity PDF conversion independent of device or software as it uses Adobe’s online services. The application preserves links, end notes, foot notes, and creates bookmarks automatically in PDF files converted from Office documents. It preserves transitions and converts multi-media content for Power Point files. It converts e-mail attachments or files stored in the cloud or any application by opening them within the Adobe CreatePDF application.  Hurricane Hound for Android Smartphones
Hurricane Hound is an application for the Android smartphones, which lets you track hurricane paths. You can see the path of hurricane Irene which is currently progressing along the East Coast and is supposed to make a landfall on NewYork today, 28th August 2011. The path is overlayed on a map which can be zoomed in. Along the path, the application displays weather advisories in form of yellow icons.  iHurricane HD application for tracking hurricanes
iHurricane HD is a free application for the iPhone and the iPad that lets you tracks hurricanes, including Irene. The application can track multiple storms over an interactive map. You can see the path of the storm overlaid on a Satellite, Street, or a hybrid map. It has clickable icons along the hurricane path on places where weather advisory has been issued. You can click on any of the icon to see your distance from the point on the map where the icon is. The application also gives the longitude, latitude, wind speed, pressure, and the expected time when the hurricane is supposed to reach the place represented by the icon. Logitech has announced a full size folding Bluetooth keyboard for iPad. When the keyboard is folded, the iPad can attach securely to the bottom of the keyboard. In folded state, when the iPad is attached to the keyboard, the smart cover can be used freely. When the keyboard is un-folded, it holds iPad at an angle for optimal viewing. Steve Jobs has resigned from his role as the CEO of Apple. He will now instead be the Chairman of the board at the company. Although he has not given any reason for his resignation, it is believed that serious health issues have led to his resignation. He was diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor in 2004, had a liver transplant in 2009 and has had health troubles since then.  Google Buys Motorola Mobility
Google is buying Motorola Mobility for 12.5 billion dollar, at $40 per share, which is at a 60% premium of Motorola’s share’s closing price on Friday, August 12. The deal has been approved by the board of directors of both the companies, but will have to get regulatory approval in the U.S. and European Union to go through. Google plans to operate Motorola Mobility as a separate business – a licensee of Android while Android will remain an open platform.
