Two iPad Applications to Commemorate 9/11

“The 911 Memorial: Past, Present, and Future” application has the videos of the twin tower sites before 9/11. It recollects events as they happen on the day of 9/11/01. It gives an insider’s view of “Reflecting Absence” Architect Michael Arad’s Memorial Plaza and twin Pools. You will hear exclusive interviews with the creator of the Memorial, along with his sketches and photographs. The application has more than 40 videos, over an hour of original content, site tours, museum updates, and animations. There are over 400 high resolution images in the application. It features links to share, post, and connect with the National September 11th Memorial Museum site and also an interactive timeline from 2011. iPad 2 Tip #1 – Turn your iPad 2 into a digital photo frame when not in use

The iPad comes with a built-in functionality of showing a slide show pictures when it is in the autolock state after a period of inactivity. You can set-up after how much period of inactivity should the iPad go to the autolock state by going to Settings ->  General -> Autolock. In the AutoLock menu, you can specify after how many minutes the iPad should go into autolock mode. The options are 2, 5, 10, 15 Minutes, and Never.

Motorola Announces Droid Bionic

Motorola has announced a new smartphone – the Droid Bionic, which is available through Verizon Wireless. It supports 4G mobile broadband with download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps. It will run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network wherever the coverage is available. This smartphone has dual-core 1GHz processors, 1 GB of RAM, 4.3 inch qHD display, and it is powered by Android™ 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system. It has an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with flash and 1080p HD video capture on the back and a front-facing camera for video chat over 4G LTE, 3G or Wi-Fi. HTC’s New Jetstream Tablet Now Available on AT&T

HTC Jetstream Tablet

HTC’s new Jetstream tablet runs on Android 3.1 Honeycomb platform which has been designed from the ground up for big screen tablet devices. The tablet has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 1.3 Megapixel front-facing and an 8 Megapixel rear facing camera. The tablet has 32 GB internal memory and a MicroSD expansion slot. HTC’s Jetsream supports the Adobe Flash player in its built-in Web browser. The rear camera in this device can capture high definition (1080p) video which can be played back on the device. An optional digital pen accessory from HTC is compatible with this device and can be used for content creation and for writing Notes on Evernote – which is a cloud based note taking application. Sony Announces Xperia Arc S with 3D Panorama Pictures

Sony Xperia Arc S Smartphone

Sony has announced a new smartphone, the Arc S which can take 3D Panaroma pictures. It is built on the Android 2.3 platform. This smartphone has a 4.2 inch screen, 1.4 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 1 GB internal storage, and a micro SD card slot which can take up to 32GB capacity cards. It has 8.1 Megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, video light, and HD (720p) video recording. The unique feature of this camera is that it can take 3D Panorama pictures which can then be viewed on 3D TV with multi-angle 3D display.

Sony Challenges iPad with Two New Tablets

Sony's S Tablet

Sony has unveiled two new tablet devices, the Sony Tablet S, and the Sony Tablet P built on Google’s Android 3 Honeycomb operating system for tablets. The Sony Tablet S has a 9.4 inch LCD touch screen and has a wedge shaped form which is thicker on one side and tapers on the other. This shape makes the tablet feel lighter, easier to hold and also makes a good viewing angle when the tablet is resting on the table. The tablet comes built-in with a universal remote control application and an infrared port that can control TV, blu-ray player, stereo, cable box and even other non-Sony brands. It can wirelessly connect with a DLNA compatible TV, PC, or speakers. There is a micro USB slot and an SD card expansion slot on the tablet. CNN Acquires iPad Magazine App Zite

Personalized Magazine App Zite

The company Zite Inc., which makes the popular magazine application Zite for the iPad has been acquired by CNN. Although the terms of deals were not disclosed by CNN, a Web site – Techvibes which reported of initial talks between the two companies had speculated that CNN will at least pay $20 million. Zite is a personalized magazine application for iPad that serves customized content based on what you click on and your social feeds. It provides news, articles, blogs, videos, and other content from both mainstream and niche sites. The application has a smart auto suggest tool which lets you select from thousands of magazine sections. Adobe Releases Application to Create PDFs on iPad and iPhone

Adobe has released an application called “Adobe CreatePDF” which enables creation of PDF files on iPad and iPhone. Adobe claims that the application has high fidelity PDF conversion independent of device or software as it uses Adobe’s online services. The application preserves links, end notes, foot notes, and creates bookmarks automatically in PDF files converted from Office documents. It preserves transitions and converts multi-media content for Power Point files. It converts e-mail attachments or files stored in the cloud or any application by opening them within the Adobe CreatePDF application.
